It has now been just over 2 months since I started my invisalign treatment. I have only got up to 19 weeks and will need to go back and get the remaining amount when I get a chance to. I was going to get the full remaining amount, but this will come to £600ish, so I'm going to get the next 8 (around November time) to tide me into the New Year.
I am still not a massive fan of them. My two biggest hates are:
- the way they make me talk - my stutter is horrendous. I'm always tripping over my words and it is very frustrating when I can't get out what I want to say
- the look - I don't notice anything when my mouth is closed, but even just a small teeth smile I absolutely hate. The way the light reflects of the shine from the braces is enough to blind 20 people in one go.
Week 9
I am writing this now that I am back from South Africa, so this week and the next may be a little sketchy in terms of what I remember. Especially considering I was focusing more on working and animals, so remembering how they felt may be a little touch and go in some places...
The first day I was supposed to put these in (Thursday as always) didn't go quite the way I had hoped. For starters, it was around 9pm on Thursday that I realised I hadn't actually changed my braces and so I had gone a whole day wearing week 8, not week 9.
Because of my forgetful nature and the fact that the first 3 days whilst at Riverside (South Africa) I wasn't wearing my braces much at all, this week was another stiff/hard one. It took my teeth a couple of days to adapt to the braces and eating was quite painful due to the sensitivity in my teeth. Whoops.
I had a routine in my head about when I wanted to wear the braces and when I thought best not to. For example, when I was knee deep in work, they would be in. When it came to the baboon walk or taking photos, they would come out - I don't need to be breaking anyone's camera lense. This routine worked well for the duration of time that I was there (even if it did mean I was taking them in and out a lot more frequently).
Week 10
I was determined to pay closer attention to my braces this week, especially because of how painful the week before was. I need to keep telling myself that I have spent a fortune on the invisalign and so I need to make sure I make this work properly or I would have wasted my money.
I remained with the routine I had the previous week for my final few days at Riverside. Unfortunately unlike when I'm at work, I couldn't brush my teeth midday after lunch, so I was restricted to eating in the morning and at night (which wasn't always the nicest).
This week I have found isn't painful much at all. It can be a little stiff at times when putting the braces in, but at least it's not painful.
Week 11
Today (Thursday) has been a pretty hard one for the braces. Usually my teeth adapt quite quickly after a couple of hours, but this hasn't quite been the case today... They are very sensitive and it has been slightly painful to eat. Hopefully the pain subsides...
Week 12
After a bit of a difficult week last week, this week has been a lot easier. The braces fitted on perfectly and didn't cause me any pain, nor did they feel too tight.
I have called up the dentist to have an appointment to look at my braces from week 15 onward, as I have noticed that one of the teeth in the mold gets thinner and then disappears. So I'm a little worried that there is something wrong with the braces - I shall know more next week!
Thanks for taking the time to share this wonderful information with us. I enjoyed reading the details of the week by week process in this article. Have a great rest of your day.
