My Invisalign Experience Week 5 - 8

Sunday 14th October, 2018

Thank the lord. I have completed 4 weeks of the invisalign treatment... Another 8.5 months to go.

I did actually forget to mention that my top teeth will not be taking as long as the bottom teeth. Actually, my top teeth are perfectly straight; however, the people at invisalign felt that my teeth could be pushed out more for a 'fuller smile', so here we are... Top and bottom teeth and remaining to look like Jaws from James Bond.

Sexy.

Week 5
It's Thursday, which only means one thing! INVISALIGN WEEK 5. I've found that like week 4, this has been of one of the more difficult sets to get onto my teeth... In fact, probably the hardest one yet (joy).

I have found that during this week my teeth have actually started to ache, whereas before they haven't. I've also found that my teeth hurt most in the morning having slept in them all night. Talking about sleeping, another additional fab thing about these things are that I wake up with a mouth dryer than the Sahara desert.

Not all the time, but a lot of the time the invisalign somehow does make your mouth and lips dry, so I have found that taking them in and out can cause my lip to split if they haven't been moisturised enough, but it's rare that happens.

I have been real good with making sure I brush and floss my teeth after every meal (which means a lot of brushing) but sometimes it can be a real chore. I definitely made this mistake of eating a curry and being too lazy to brush my teeth after - they are now stained. And look awful. Great.

For the first time in a long time, waking up on Tuesday 21st August, taking the invisalign out has proven to be difficult. It was actually so painful, I couldn't help but close my eyes and let out an 'ow' as I drag them away from my poor teeth.

Week 6
I was (strangely) happy that this was another week where the invisalign put up a little bit of a fight to slot onto my teeth. I'm hoping this is because it's working.

This has probably been the week where it has consistently felt quite tough to pull in and out. Usually after a day or two it's super easy, but not this time!

I've also been very careful to make sure I eat nothing that will stain the braces to the point it makes it look like I have yellow teeth. So far so good!

Week 7
It's a new week and a new set - yay! 7 down, 31 more to go! It was quite nice to change my last set and actually have them not yellow (unlike the curry stained ones before).

Another week where I can tell there is some sort of pressure put on my teeth, but nothing major. The bottom ones this week are probably a little stronger than the top, but when I look at the frame they look no different to week 1.

To end the week, this has probably been the worst I've been with them. I've taken them out to eat on a number of occasions and have totally forgotten to put them in for hours and hours after. The weekend was especially worse. I most definitely didn't wear them more than I did.

Week 8
Due to being so crap the previous week, I'm feeling the consequences this week. They were very stiff and hard to put in, and day 2 of this week I'm feeling pretty ill - the teeth being in pain isn't helping.

I am off to South Africa in a couple of days (during this week cycle), so I have been sure to make sure I pack week 9 and 10 in  my luggage - it would be very annoying to be two weeks behind because I simply forgot two weeks worth.

The first couple of days in South Africa with these braces I admittedly didn't wear them that much. I hate the way they make me talk and my lisp and I find I also stutter SO MUCH MORE than usual when they're in. I'd say it took me 3 days till I started to wear them properly, by which time it was time to move onto week 9.
